Liam and Verity had decided to celebrate the whole 'officially moving in together' with a housewarming of sorts. Never mind that even before the rest of his stuff had made it over there, Liam had basically been living at the apartment in practice if not in name. Look, they wanted to throw a party, they were throwing a party. 'Housewarming' was just a convenient excuse.

The weapons that usually were strewn about the apartment had all been stashed in the bedroom, and there was a good selection of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non) laid out on the kitchen table. They might be in debt to the various restaurants in Fandom for providing the spread, but no one wanted to nosh on Verity's "leftover Chinese food fajita specials." The mice had even been bribed with a selection of the appetizers to stay away from the table of food. (They had not, however, been expressly forbidden from trying to convince anyone to give them food once it had left the table, so... fair warning.)

Coats go in the spare room and please don't touch the Barbie Dream House. Unless invited to by the mice, of course.

Verity was walking by, then stopped and eyed Summer. "You're one of my neighbors, right?" she said. "Summer?"

Verity wasn't super-social, but it paid to know who the neighbors were.

"You're on the radio."

"Used to be," Summer offered, with mayyyyybe a small flush of pride over it. Look. It was nice to be recognized for something that wasn't a thing like destroying a civilization or inciting a race war or causing giant spiders to invade your planet so now everyone had to eat ice cream with flies in it. "I don't do it so much anymore, because I actually like sleeping in," and because Leroy was a creep, "but I'll cover for Amaya now every once in a while. And you must be Verity. I don't think we've had a chance to, like, officially meet or whatever. Or, if we had, it was, like, totally forever ago."

"We might have crossed paths at the summer camping things?" Verity offered. "But then we were also busy trying to avoid gremlins, flying singing fish, and god only knows what else."

"Hmmmm," Summer looked thoughtful for a moment. "Maybe? Maybe not, though, I wasn't around much that summer. I was back home for a bit, though I did pop over every once in a while to catch a few of them."

Whenever it was conveniently hilarious to do so.

Was there a better way to do it?

"I tried to skip it as much as possible," Verity agreed. "There were gremlins. No popsicle stick sculpture is worth that headache."

"Yeahhhh," Summer agreed. "I feel you on that one. I mean, in a general sense, because I've never actually been bitten before? And I know I'm probably jinxing it just by talking about it, so sorry if that happens, but I'm pretty sure I'm now obligated by Fandom Small Talk Etiquette to ask if you ever have been."

"If I ever have, I've successfully blocked it out enough that I don't remember," Verity said, with a shudder. "Fortunately, my family has made an occupation out handling dangerous cryptids, so I'm usually pretty wary."

They were both going to get bit now and it was just terrible.
