29 Chimera Court, Wednesday Morning

When Liam had gone to sleep the night before, he'd been a child. He knew, on some level, that something had gone wrong, because his instructions from his father when he'd been born hadn't involved spending any time as a child, and yet there he was. He hadn't been overly concerned about it, in any case.

Still, when he woke up this morning and noticed that he seemed to be taller, his limbs longer... well. It was a relief.

Until he looked in the mirror and saw a face staring back at him that still seemed kind of childlike. Older, yes, but too young to infiltrate Companion Services and fulfill his destiny. That was... troubling. Perhaps human DNA interacted oddly with Kimera DNA? Liam had no idea, and it wasn't as if there was anyone around he could ask.

He figured he ought to just make the best of it, starting with finding some breakfast.

"Sure," Miguel said. "But where is this? Why am I here?"

"That's entirely too much existentialism before breakfast," Mitsutada said. "But given the group that has gathered, apparently you're my roommate who has regressed to a younger age. So the why is to enjoy the vitality of youth while you have it, I suppose."

"Your what?" Miguel squinted at him. "Is this some sort of joke?"

"It is hardly a joke," Mitsutada said. "You are..." he looked around at the other folks gathered and made a guess. "Miguel, yes? You've been made younger and apparently forgotten all about me. So you've forgotten how I'm a much better cook, for one."

He plated Miguel's breakfast and held it out for him.

Miguel took the plate automatically, still a little suspicious. "Better than who? My ma is a great cook, and the Academy's not bad. And why would I be 'made younger' and forget people? How?"

"Magic?" Mitsutada offered with a shrug.

I mean, there wasn't really an explanation.

"Magic?" Miguel repeated, skeptical. "Magic's just science we don't understand yet."
