MHA #6, Friday Evening

It had taken a ridiculously long time to get from the causeway back to Verity's apartment. Mostly because Liam was... let's just say the combination of 'easily distracted' and 'uncoordinated' was working against him in that respect. And Verity's apartment wasn't even that far from the causeway, all things considered.

But they made it, finally, stumbling in through the doorway. Or Liam stumbled, and Verity just patiently guided him towards the couch.

"We're here already?" he exclaimed, surprised. Apparently, it hadn't seemed like such a 'ridiculously long time' to him.

"Aww," she teased. "I could think of another couple of places it would be fun to initiate a Sharing from."

Clearly she was talking about innocent things, like cupping someone's cheek, or resting their hand on a shoulder. CLEARLY.

“Like where?” Liam couldn’t help but ask now.

"I'll tell you when you sober up," she promised with a wicked smile.

Liam’s reply to that was a huffy, drawn-out sigh. So mean, Verity. SO MEAN.

Verity leaned forward to feed him some popcorn. "Do you really wanna know now? All you're going to do is think about it."

You know, until he got distracted.

Liam, who was currently licking butter off the hand not holding Verity’s, paused to blink owlishly at her. “Think about what?”

Case in fucking point, Liam.

"How good this popcorn is," Verity sighed, very much not watching him lick his hand. "You did a very good job, watching this popcorn."

She needed a drink.

And now Liam was just going to squint in her direction. "Are you patronizing me?" he asked accusingly.

"I am," she said, nodding. And grinning. "Yeah, like 100%."

"Hmph," Liam frowned at her. "Dunno if I should share my popcorn anymore."

First of all, it was Verity's popcorn. Second... he absolutely would continue to share it.

She was going to give him sad eyes anyway. "You don't wanna share with me?" she asked, letting her lip tremble.

"I do," Liam said. "But not if you're gonna be mean."

Verity sniffled. "I can't believe you would deny me popcorn," she said.

[firstofitskind]

"Can't believe you'd make fun of me!" Liam retorted. Maturely.

[arboreal_priestess]

"I can't believe we've been dating this long and it comes as a surprise to you!" Verity retorted, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

She'd at least given up the sad face when it was clear that Liam wasn't buying it.

"Guess it's not," Liam had to admit. "Kay. You can have some popcorn." That had come from her cupboards, and been popped in her microwave. He was sooooo generous.

"Good," Verity informed him. "Or else I would have had to rethink my 'sharing dinner' stance."

She grabbed a handful from the bowl and tossed about half of it on the floor, where it was converged upon by a mass of 'HAIL'ing furry bodies.

"When's it supposed to get here?" Liam wondered, watching the mice devour the popcorn in fascination.

[arboreal_priestess]

"Not for awhile," Verity said. "Soup takes some time when you start from scratch."

She readjusted herself, shifting around so that she was snuggled against him, her back resting against his chest. "Wanna watch our movie? By the time it's over, I bet we'll have dinner."

"Aaaaabsolutely, yes," Liam said, his now no-longer-buttery fingers tucking a stray lock of hair behind Verity's ear. "Are these Sleestaks as mean as the ones in the sewers?"

"Just as mean, but much less competent," she said, pulling the movie up on Netflix. "Not my favorite kind of Netflix and Chill, but either way, you're still a good date."

[firstofitskind]

"What's your favorite kind?" Liam wondered, naturally. "You're a good date too," he added, because it was true. Anyone else and, lowered inhibitions or no, he'd have locked himself in his room to ride it out alone.

[arboreal_priestess]

"The kind where the TV is on, but we're not paying any attention to it," she said, wrapping one of his arms around her. He just felt comfortable; and she liked the way she felt, safe and surrounded by his strength. "You know, I haven't really done much of this kind before. I like it."

[firstofitskind]

"Why would- oh," it took him a second, but even drugged, he could put the pieces together. "Oh." His arm tightened around her shoulders, and he leaned in, breathing in the scent of her as the movie's opening titles began. "S'nice," he agreed. Though the other kind sounded pretty nice too, come to think of it...

"Yeah, it is. We should do more of it," Verity said softly, lacing her fingers through his. "Both kinds."

One led to the other so nicely and all.
