Liam's Shuttle, Fandom and then beyond, Tuesday Evening

So this time last year, Liam and Verity had woken up together for the first time. Yeah, much like this past weekend, it had been after being small children for a few days. But they'd decided that since that first weekend had involved sharing (toy) weaponry, then the morning after ought to count as far as anniversaries went.

Look, it made sense to them, just go with it.

A few months ago, Liam had promised Verity both flying lessons and a look at the Northern Lights, and tonight seemed like the perfect opportunity to make good on that promise, and so he'd worked out a flight plan to guide her through and packed a picnic dinner for when they got to their destination. Now all he needed was, well. Verity herself.

"Exactly like that," Liam agreed, pulling her in for a kiss.

Verity had meant it as half-joke, but she could see where it was accurate, too. For all that her childhood had been the furthest from 'normal,' she'd been a child and could introduce him to those childish things he'd missed: sandwiches and cartoons and cereal that turned the milk colors.

Whimsy and fun. And at the same time, had dragged him into a squabbling mess of a family one silver bullet at a time.

"You're mine," she whispered into the kiss. "All mine."

She could share him, of course, but...hers.

'Dragged', as if he'd protested even a tiny bit.

"Yours," he agreed. "Love you."

"Love you, too," Verity told him. "A lot more than I did this time last year. I wonder how much more I'll love you next year."

"Depends," Liam said, giving her a thoughtful look. "Are we talking linear or exponential growth?"

Liam, your nerd was showing again.

Verity groaned and flopped backwards. "I didn't come all the way to outer space to be quizzed on eighth dimensional math," she announced.

"Mmmm, then you're going to be disappointed when you hear what navigating interdimensional space involves," Liam teased.

[arboreal_priestess]

"Jooooooooooooooooooooock," Verity whined. "I figure the ship does all the math."

[firstofitskind]

"Most," Liam corrected. "The shuttle does most of the math."

[arboreal_priestess]

"This is some nerd pact of aggression you've cooked up with my cousin," Verity accused. "For shame."

“Hah!” Liam scoffed. “You don’t see me offering her piloting lessons, do you?” he asked pointedly.

"She probably got mad that the shuttle was going to do all the really fun math," Verity snorted.

[firstofitskind]

"Nah," Liam shook his head. "I mean, don't get me wrong, Sarah's great and I like her, but if I'm not in the pilot's seat, then it's going to be you. No one else."

Well...shit. Now Liam had to get kissed again, long and hard and intense, Verity's hand finding his because, what? Was she supposed to have words for how that made her feel?

Lips and palms met, and Liam too was projecting his feelings through the Sharing.

"You're the only one I'd trust to fly me anywhere," he murmured.

[arboreal_priestess]

"You make me feel like I'm flying," she responded. "Even when both my feet are on the ground."

"You know, we could do something about that 'both feet on the ground' thing..." Liam pointed out with a soft smile, reaching out with his other hand to tuck a strand of hair behind Verity's ear.

[arboreal_priestess]

"I mean, you know how I feel how being on the ground in general," Verity said with a chuckle. "You may be the God of Distant Stars now, but I've been the Arboreal Priestess for years."

[firstofitskind]

"That a yes?" Liam checked, sparks of energy dancing from his fingertips.

[arboreal_priestess]

"It absolutely is," Verity said, looking at his hands in fascination. "You know I trust you."

[firstofitskind]

Liam grinned, closing his eyes as he leaned in to kiss her again, surrendering himself to the Joining. Energy replaced physical form, surrounding Verity, even as it brought together emotions, thoughts, sensations.

[arboreal_priestess]

"Way better than just putting on the anti-grav or whatever," Verity murmured before letting loose a long, contented sigh.

Liam might go purple less often now that he'd figured how to stay physical when they got physical, but it was still a rush every time he did. Her toes, no longer flush against the floor, curled.

I love you.

It wasn't telepathy, not quite, but the message was there all the same as he gave himself completely to her.

I love you, too, Verity Sent back, and took him all into herself, until they were completely entwined together, so much more deeply than just physically.

...Though it did have some nice physical benefits.

Being non-physical himself meant Liam didn't get that particular benefit, but he did get to experience how it made Verity feel, which was just as enjoyable from his perspective.

Eventually, though, he lowered Verity gently back to the floor as he came back to his physical self. Lying beside her, he pulled her close and wrapped one arm around her. Not saying anything just yet, just enjoying the physical contact.
