Hello, it's Steve Rogers with all the news of yesterday!

In classes, Constantine went through patience and wrath as well as humility and pride. It was a quiet day in the library for Belle, and Sam Eagle discussed truency and I think I might have done a public service announcement about that a while ago, but you'd have to check with Tony. He has all of them.

In town, Octavia rescued Duke from the very real threat of being crushed to death by paperwork, and Watts brought Steven lunch at the museum, even though he was told that kisses could sustain them.

And that's everything! Enjoy the weekend!

A lot of the soft furnishings were back from last week, almost like certain people had run out of ideas or something. Also the movie projector was set up. Surprise.

"Today is a movie day since we'll be concluding and... don't know how you'd do a exam on a roleplaying game," Jane admitted. Also, neither of them were rules lawyers. You're welcome.

Just enjoy the pretty people, people.

On the board today there were two sets of virtues and vices.
Patientia (Patience) versus Ira (Wrath)
Humilitas (Humility) versus Superbia (Pride)

"Right, I thought we had seven weeks, not six, so we're cramming shite in and getting it done." Constantine said briskly. "Lucky you."

"Patience and wrath. Interestingly, it's patience they contrast with wrath, not restraint... patience endures, whereas restraint holds itself back. Meanwhile, it's wrath that gets called out, not anger. Anger motivates. Anger properly directed can serve the causes of virtue and justice. But wrath, well, it's often referred to as a 'fire,' and you can ask any firefighter... fire is unpredictable and will consume anything it touches."

"Contrast that with humility and pride. We all know pride supposedly goeth before a fall, but fuck me I have fallen flat on my face a fucking lot, and I'm still the same prideful arsehole as always," he smirked. "And I have no intentions of changing."

"The idea that humility counters pride is so popular, that the artist Caravaggio painted the acronym H-AS OS on to the sword of David taking down Goliath.... humilitas occidit superbiam. Humility Kills Pride. It's a line from Saint Augustine, referring to how David taking out Goliath is like Jesus taking down the Devil -- only capable of doing so because humility has offered them clarity to see opportunity, whereas the two opponents are blinded to their own weaknesses due to pride."

"So that's all our sins and virtues. Thoughts on today's subjects, or on the concept overall?" he asked. "You survived summer session. Great job."

The summer was drawing to a close though Belle felt like it had only just begun.

The library seemed quiet today. The calm before the storm? It had been a relatively quiet summer overall (even if she had briefly disappeared into a book). Maybe it was just going to be a quiet fall as well once the season turned.

There were a wide variety of books with the word End in the title out today, and a gremlin who was sitting on a stack of beach books looking ready to bite anyone who came near.

Just a usual library day, really.

"Welcome to our final session, class!" Sam boomed out from his spot behind his lectern.

"Today we shall discuss something very important. Something I myself have been guilty of! Something that ought to be weird but is instead far too common! Today's subject is truancy! Absenteeism! Avoidance of responsibilities!"

"I, myself, have unfortunately been otherwise detained this summer on more than one occasion when I ought to have been here to educate you! The masked Australian man has been chronically absent this summer and I have been forced to read radio notes on more than one occasion! He may or not be a koala, currently. The situation is unclear. But that is immaterial! What is important here is that shirking responsibility should not happen!"

Methinks the Muppet doth protest too much...

"I hope that you, my students, are aware that responsibilities are important. Following through is important! However, you are likely aware that being responsible is uncommon these days. It is considered, perhaps, weird by the majority. But it should not be! Do you agree? Disagree? Discuss!"

Duke came in with a big cooler, which he plopped down in the kitchen in front of Gus, his cook.

"Shrimp," he announced. "Waaaaay too much of it. That chick who was obsessed with shrimp still live on the island?"

Gus didn't know. Neither did Ali the dishwasher or Billy, the busboy.

"Well, whatever," Duke decided. "Find something to do with it all, would you?"

And he headed to his office to work on the endless pile of nonspecific paperwork which had utterly buried his desk.

Another week, another day of Shenanigans reporting.

This week involved some kind of bizarre ritual with rubber chickens and pool noodles that apparently summoned a koala that promptly attached itself to Anakin.

I assume it's still there.

Steven hummed a song to himself as he worked in his usual spot behind the Welcome Desk. There was no particular reason he could name for his good mood. Perhaps there was something happy happening somewhere out in the multiverse. The birthday of the person who played his husband, as for example.

Regardless, Steven was cheerful in a way that could not be thwarted by things like realizing he had no idea where he'd put the replacements for the tape dispenser. Or, for that matter, if he'd remembered to order them.

...he hadn't accidentally thrown them out, had he?

He was happy to be interrupted by any visitors who needed him, of course.

I fail to see how you misplacing the masked Australian man should become my problem once more! Of course he’s unreliable! You ought to have a better back up plan. Very well, rodents. I shall read your notes this one last time! Should your usual victim be unavailable you will have to find another to read your scribbles in the future!

First, listeners, I apologize for the lateness of this broadcast. I was unaware I would be expected to perform! And now to more important things. Like education, if it can be called that here, at the school. Try Not to Die which is, at least, excellent advice if terribly vague, ventured to Jamaica. Where I do not believe anyone died so well done students and teachers! That class on playing make-believe decided on pretend items for their pretend selves to have. So frivolous! Thankfully, I have nothing to report from the dorms on whatever behaviors the youths are engaging in.

Sairis was at the Infinite Consortium being menaced by a small mouse with a sword but he quite magnanimously tried to help the fellow even after such an insult. Needful Things and Remy were plagued by mysterious banging noises. Perhaps it was many mice with many swords!

There were headaches plaguing Kitty at Caritas. Perhaps there was banging there as well. Stop snickering, squirrels! And at The Devil’s Nest Kathy’s phone was full of notifications and she was at least briefly distracted from that by Remy once he left the banging noises behind in favor of beer. Not even American beer!

Anakin was surrounded by rubber chickens and harmonicas. Completely normal Wednesday, right? There were also t-shirts, blindfolds, and two pool noodles.

Anakin picked up his megaphone. "We will be playing a modified version of tag! All but two of you will be wearing rubber chickens on your feet." As you do.

Anakin held up the rubber chicken. It squeaked menacingly. "Half of you will also have harmonicas in your mouths. Your goal is to remain silent so that the blindfolded swatters can not discover you and hit you with their pool noodle."

This seemed wholesome.

"Listen for your names and then come get your shirts!"

He smiled. "McGarrett and Remy, come retrieve your blindfolds and pool noodles. You're it."

And then he rattled off everyone else who was playing, and if they also got a harmonica in their mouths:

Kitty - harmonica
Vi
Sairis - harmonica
Hannibal
Jon - harmonica
Mariner
Steve R - harmonica
Flint
Stark - harmonica
Duke
Rey - harmonica

After class, Sairis showed up to work still a bit stoked from winning (and a little bit suntanned). He added some text to his sign and put it in the window again:

Charms and potions available!
Fertility and antifertility, concentration, and more!
Get ready for your break or next semester!

Then he made tea and unpacked the latest box. As soon as he opened it, a mouse jumped out, and Sairis barely escaped being impaled on its tiny sword.

"Hey!"

The mouse, it turned out, was more confused than anything.

"Sorry, I have no idea how you got here, but I can try and help you get back. Can I carry you to the desk? We can take some notes on where you belong."

So that's what he would be doing for this afternoon, apparently.

Hello listeners of the island, it is I, Boston. Many of you may be familiar with my witch, Adrian, who is currently a pot of black hollyhocks. Something similar has happened to several others on the island, including Ms. Finch, whose job it usually is to provide you with the news. How that makes reading these notes my problem has not been fully explained to me yet, but I will not be shirking in my responsibilities.

Anyway, there are not many. I intend to get these out of the way quickly and then return myself to the sunbeam these squirrels rudely pulled me from. Considering I am an apex predator, that was both brave and stupid. But I digress. Paintball which sounds like a nightmare on one's fur, allowed for a free-for-all with powers. 2 Book 2 Club went the more civilized route and created cocktails for their favorite books. That sounds like a fun time, remind me to tell Adrian about it when he once again has thumbs. At Furnado, Caleb took a new kitten home. Samantha, some advice for you:

*A series of meows*

And lastly, the Trooper Station had a sexual harassment training and from these drawings, either the training is a fake, the squirrels desperately need to take it themselves, or both.

That is it for my notes, thank you for your attention to this matter.

Well, Kathy had missed her last shift because she was busy being a tiny African antelope, as sometimes happened here on Fandom island, but she was back behind the bar tonight.

Ding!

Patty had taken roughly 2937492383409 pictures of Kathy as a klipspringer over the past week and was now sending them - possibly individually - to Kathy now.

Ding!

Which meant roughly 2937492383409 messages, each from Dante's phone.

Ding!

...She really needed to get that girl her own phone. And a very limited data plan.

Kitty had come in today with a raging headache, but she still came in. Even though the zombies didn't seem to understand "please play quieter." She'd just go slow and probably go home a little earlier.

Meanwhile Tino appeared to have a cold or the sniffles or something and was being a giant baby about it all night so maybe she'd leave even earlier just to get away from him.

"So, you've all got your characters built, you've decided on who they are and what they do and so forth. The only thing left to do is get equipment," Jon said. "You can go through the lists and choose whatever non-magical things you want, within reason, and choose two magic items that are common or uncommon or one that's rare. Or you can make a case for something you really want.

"Otherwise, if you have any questions about things we've covered already or want to adjust them, let me know. And I hope you'll all be here next term to actually play."

Because otherwise he was going to be a very sad DM.

"It's our final class today and everyone's still in one piece," Anakin announced, slightly disappointed.

"Master, we've talked about this," Ahsoka said. "Just because you have trouble keeping your limbs intact..."

"Maybe I'm just a little more devoted than everyone else," Anakin said.

"I'm sure that's why, Anakin." Ahsoka did not sound particularly convinced.

"Anyway, we're going to Jamaica for our final class. Please liberally apply sunscreen before going through the portal," Anakin said.

And because they cared they'd even provided the neon zinc sticks.

Remy actually had no reason to make sure he was in the shop today. Or any day. He was not getting paid. He paid himself a small stipend any time he was in the shop -- would Harley respect him if he didn't steal spare change from the register? -- but that was besides the point.

The point was, there was no reason for him to stick around and deal with the weird banging noises coming from . . . somewhere. He was assuming next door, but he wasn't, like. Going to go check. It seemed like fairly standard renovation banging? But it went on for ages. Just *bang bang thump!* pause *bang bang thump!* There were also stretches where the bangs went away and the thumps sounded a bit disconcertingly like a heart beat? But that was probably also normal. Right?

He really should have gone home when he heard the first *ba-thump, ba-thump*. But he could be a stubborn SOB, so here he was, playing solitaire and pretending that there wasn't something banging on the wall behind him.

Anyway, have a sale on old timey talking boards. They won't help you communicate with most renovation contractors, but the ghost making it sound like the wall has a heartbeat? . . . Maybe!

[my neighbors are renovating. And I can't figure out what they're doing that's making the *ba-thump ba-thump*. Method RP is method. OPEN!]

Sziget had been a trip to remember. Even without the memory of groddy early-00s videos downloaded through squeaky modems. It’d been a capstone on a great tour and a promise of what they might be able to achieve if they kept going like this. Whatever misgivings Jill might have about taking the band bigger seemed to have cooled.

Not that Jack was expecting anything. He was, and probably always would be, fundamentally incapable of expecting the best. The best he could do was to let himself enjoy the present. )

The teachers were dressed in their superhero suits today, so that could only mean one thing: free for all day!

"Today we're letting you off the chain," Tony said, armor firmly in place like it could save him from Steve's competitive nature. (Not his own, of course. Don't be silly.)

"Powers are encouraged," Steve said with a grin. "We'll give you a few minutes to go out and retrieve anything you'll need for class today."

"Please keep the property damage to a minimum," Tony added quickly.

"Paint's still the only allowable weapon," Steve said, nodding.
