MHA #6, Monday Afternoon

The island was being weird again. Because of course it was. Though at least this latest bout of weirdness seemed... relatively benign?

It hadn't actively interfered with any of Liam's usual morning routines, anyway. So that was good, he supposed. And now that it was a bit later in the day and he could be reasonably certain the person on the other end would actually be awake, he dialed a certain number on his Global. There were a couple of things he needed to take care of.

It rang once, twice, and then...

"Heyyyyyy, hot stuff!" the redhead on the other end chirped at him as the video feed connected.

"Street," Liam grinned. "It's been a while."

"Yeah, well," she shrugged. "Who's fault is that?" she asked pointedly. Because it was absolutely Liam's fault, yes.

"Point taken," Liam acknowledged. "Listen, I need-"

"A favor," Street chorused with him in unison. But she didn't look put out or anything, just amused. "You know, only giving me a ring when you need something is a guaranteed way to give a girl a complex. But what do you need?"

She listened attentively as Liam outlined just what it was he needed her to do, nodding occasionally.

"Shouldn't be too hard," Street said finally. "I'll let you know when everything's good to go. And- just 'cause this isn't your home anymore, doesn't mean there's not people who love you here, you know?" ... Though by 'people', she mostly meant 'her', since everyone else Liam cared about was either dead or off exploring space. "Maybe try calling more often?"

"Yeah," Liam said, smile turning soft around the edges. "I'll do that, Street. Thanks again."

With a wink and a little wave, Street shut off the connection on her end. Liam slid the Global closed and pocketed again. Now all he had to do was let Verity know things were in motion.

"All right, but we're taking this to the grave," Verity said, pulling out her phone. "Because if Alex or Antimony hear that we've teamed up for this, they're gonna team up, too."

And not for the pool.

Price family games were intense.

“I am extremely good at keeping secrets, you know that,” Liam promised with a grin.

"Pfft, like keeping your origins under wraps is anything compared to cheating Antimony out of comic book money," Verity teased.

"While I'm willing to concede that Antimony and comic book money is serious business, I did also lead an underground Resistance movement, let's not forget that," Liam shot back.

"Sounds like the kind of thing a three year-old could do," Verity decided, leaning up to steal a kiss. "A very special, sneaky, secret-keeping three year old."

"Technically speaking, was more like three months when Hayley pushed me into taking over," Liam grumbled into that kiss. "Anyway. What'd you pick, so I can make my guess with all the relevant intel?"

Verity pulled out her phone so she could show him the dates that everyone had picked. "You get four," she said. "New dates added on an irregular basis."

Liam bit his lip thoughtfully as he mulled over the list, eventually picking out what he felt was a reasonable spread of dates.

“Of course,” he said slyly once that was done, “just to keep things interesting, we could make a little side bet, just between us.”

He couldn't have gotten her interest faster if he'd snagged it on a hook and pulled. "Gooo oonnnnnnn," she said, eyebrows raised.

Liam grinned. "How did I know that'd pique your interest?" he asked rhetorically. "So, regardless of whether or not we actually win the pool, I think whichever of the two of us ends up with the closest guess should get a little... something."

"What were you thinking?" Verity asked, practically purring.

“... I don’t know,” Liam admitted, sly smile turning sheepish. “Making the bet’s as far as I’d gotten. Is there anything in particular you’d want from me?” Ignoring, of course, the fact that there was very little he wouldn’t do if she asked it of him, bet or no bet.

"An unspecified favor, I like it," Verity said. "Impossible to say what we want for now. God knows when it's actually going to happen. But I'll take a favor for later."

“Seal the deal with a kiss?” Liam suggested, as if they actually needed any sort of excuse.

"Smart," Verity said, rising up on her toes to press her mouth to his, clinging to his shoulders.

"So I've been told, yes," Liam retorted, grinning as he returned the kiss.

"Okay now," Verity said with a grin. "Now what say you we head out and explore this new Jurassic Park addition we've suddenly found ourselves in. Ever wanna try to wrangle a dinosaur?"

"We wrangled dragon servitors that one time," Liam pointed out. "That sort of counts?" That was not a 'no', mind.

"Not even in the same ballpark," Verity snorted. "C'mon, you. Put the nerdtech down, grab some weapons. We're gonna go exploring."
